Confinement and the Art of Decoration

The chair is the thought. The chair is a place to sit; it’s not taking you anywhere and yet implies a resting place. However, the resting place becomes a confinement if you cannot or do not get out, inertia may set in; chair potato type of behavior encourages a belief that the chair is actually supportive.

 

A three-channel video installation installed at Artspace in New Haven, CT in 2006. The exhibition itself,  was a collaborative endeavor, coming from conversations that we had earlier on, on the theme of Confinement with Norwegian artist, Elise Martens and German artist, Gloria Zein.  However, we each had our own end result occupied y different spaces.
